John Thomas Furniture was founded by Whitewood Industries in 2000. Whitewood Industries began in 1979 in Greensboro, NC as a wholesaler to ready-to-finish furniture retail stores throughout the Eastern United States. Initially Whitewood purchased and resold ready-to-finish furniture products, which were (at that time) readily available from many sources. However, it soon became obvious that sales could be increased by assembling many of these products.

John Thomas Furniture has proudly been crafting the finest solid wood home furnishings. We believe in, and are inherently committed to, offering the most beautiful, long lasting, affordable home furnishings. Our product is made entirely of Parawood, which is part of the maple family. It is valued for its dense grain, minimal shrinkage, attractive light color and ease of finishing. It is also prized as an “environmentally friendly” wood, as it makes use of plantation grown trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing cycle.

Our Tables have ball bearing extension glides making for a seamless, smooth transition from smaller to larger dining. Gap covers that ensure our table aprons are continuous and allow for minor table expansion due to drastic climate changes. They are crafted with folding leaf hinges that enable table leaves to store flat as well as providing leaf apron protection, apron stabilizers that ensure strength and stability of a table, self-storing Butterfly Leaf (Leaves) that save space, and reinforced corner block bolts with locking nuts/washers for maximum stability.

Our Chairs are built with leg stretchers to ensure the legs do not loosen from the strenuous and everyday used chairs undergo. The leg stretches that are both glued and screwed in place. They are constructed entirely of solid wood (all parts and components). Our custom upholstery seat options are all manufactured in the U.S.

Our Finishing we use only high performance, pre-catalyzed sealers/lacquers understanding that you don’t just stand around and look at your furniture…you use it!
